What's in a number?

Jack's week can be summed up by the following numbers:

Translation: F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C

For those of you who don't monitor your kids on a regular basis .... the number on the left is Jack's oxygen saturation (it doesn't get any better than 100% - and Jack is not on supplemental oxygen) and the number on the right is his heartrate (for him to be below 100 is great.)

It's been a good week for Jack and thus, a good week for mom! We are having a birthday party on Sunday with family and friends to celebrate Eric and Mary's birthdays; I'm NOT going into the office this weekend; and the weather couldn't be better. We are looking forward to a great weekend to top off a great week. I'm also working on a blog-thought .... stay tuned ....

Our son, Jack was born with an unknown subtype of congenital muscular dystrophy. Jack's disease caused him to have severe muscle weakness and he was ventilator dependent from four months of age until his death at the age of 15. This blog started out as a way to keep family and friends updated on Jack's spinal fusion surgery in the summer of 2006. Thereafter, it has become a window into Jack's life and the lives of those who loved him.

Our beautiful son died peacefully in my arms on January 5, 2014. Jack's journey is over. As Jack's mom, I now have to figure out how to live "Ann's Journey". I'm not sure where I go from here, but I know that wherever I go, Jack will always be with me, in my heart and guiding me in all I do.
