Jack's Ryan House Weekend

We spent our first weekend at Ryan House. It was everything I had hoped for and more.  How refreshing and UNstressful it was to be around caregivers who ask "how can we help you?" and "tell us how you want us to care for your child."  Quite different from my experiences with hospitals and nursing agencies where they like to tell me how they are going to care for my child. Everyone was wonderful with Jack and he had a great (and stable) weekend.

Ryan House is truly about the entire family.  Eric was in heaven (he's still asking me why we had to leave).  He loved the pool, he loved the staff and he loved the attention.  It was a remarkable weekend and one we hope to repeat soon.

Thank you Ryan House staff .... you are awesome!

An absolutely amazing place! I was weeping by the end of the slide show. I hope they can put a Ryan House in every town in the world. I'm so glad you all had a good time. Jack looks delighted to be there with a staff of attentive new friends:)

Wow Ann! That place looks like a dream!

I am so very happy that you have found a place that not only will care for Jack but who actually cares ABOUT him and the rest of the family! I cried when I read the journal entries, what sweet individuals to dedicate their lives in this way!

Jack looked happy and Eric was in heaven! What a blessing Ryan House is!

Ann -

That place looks just awesome! Even more than the post of a few weeks ago. I am so glad you found the place.

I hope you and other caregivers can get some occasional respite leaving Jack alone. Scary, but I went to a seminar this weekend that said things like "Respite is a necessity - not a guilty trip!" That will be easier to accept with such a great place to use for respite.
