Moving Out

They are moving us out of the PICU. I guess I should be grateful we stayed through the weekend. We don't even get a private room. I'm so PO'd right now, it's probably best if I keep this update short. If I type what I'm feeling, it would probably be sensored by the FCC. So, now you know how mom feels! As for Jack, more awake time equals more pain. I have to be realistic and accept the fact that he isn't going to get through surgery and recovery without any pain. If I thought I could convince them to put him in a drug induced coma for 6 months, I'd try. I think I'm the one who needs the drug induced coma right about now! We should be on the floor in a hour or so (it's 1:25 St. Louis time). Once we are on the floor, I can use my cell phone. So, those of you who have my number ... feel free to call. I'll update later tonight, if I haven't been kicked out of the hospital.

Thanks Kari and Kerry for sharing your jokes. I need more jokes to counter the debilitating effects that my current stress level is causing to my hippocampus!!

Hi Ann,
Sorry to here they are moving you out of PICU. I hope there is someway you can still get a break but I also know what it is like on the wards :(
It is so difficult to watch when your child is in pain but stay strong and know we are all here for you. Praying that Jack's pain is well managed and his beautiful smiles come back soon.
Take care of yourself.
Lots of love,

Bea and Katie xxxx

Ann -

Sorry to hear you have to leave the PICU. I hope you can find a way to get some respite from that hospital room. I am glad Jack has a good advocate for him and that you don't need to go "Terms of Endearment" on them.

You're now hearing from the only person on the planet never to have seen "Terms ...", but knowing the subject matter of the movie, I can only imagine. I wish there was something I could do to help pass the time for you and Jack's pain. Here's something that will make you laugh (I hope):

Two dwarfs go into a bar, where they pick up two prostitutes
and take them to their separate hotel rooms.
The first dwarf, however, is unable to get an erection.
His depression is made worse by the fact that, from the next room,
he hears his little friend shouting out cries of "Here I come
again. ONE,TWO,THREE UUH!" all night long.
In the morning, the second dwarf asks the first, "How did it go?"
The first mutters, "It was so embarrassing. I simply couldn't get an
erection."
The second dwarf shook his head. "You think that's embarrassing?
I couldn't even get on the bed!

Keep your chin up, and we'll talk soon.

Hugs and prayers, Leigh Ann

Ann, DARN IT!! I am sorry you are being moved out of "paradise".. I can send you a large pile of sand, some margaritas, a lovely black coat I got off some cabby, a man wearing nothing but a bath towel, a camp fire on the beach and more margaritas. Ann, take care of your hippocampus. I'm praying you see that smile soon and that Jack can rest comfortably and heal.

Love and hugs, Whitney

OK, there always has to be someone in worse shape than you are and I think I found the IV equivelent for you....

"IT DON'T WORK, IT DON'T WORK!"
Joseph L. Clark, Ohio death row inmate, after his executioners struggled for half an hour to find a noncollapsed vein in which to inject a lethal dose of drugs.

Sucks to be him. Hope Jack and you get a good night sleep.
Hugs and Laughter
